Moles

A mole is a common benign skin lesion due to a local proliferation of pigment cells (melanocytes). A mole can be present at birth (congenital naevus) or appear later (acquired naevus). They may arise on any part of the body. Even though benign, some moles can develop atypical changes like rapid increase in size, sudden appearance of hair on the mole etc. which may denote malignant change.
