Molluscum Contagiosum
Molluscum contagiosum is a skin infection caused by the virus Molluscum contagiosum. It produces benign raised bumps, or lesions, on the upper layers of your skin. Within 6-12 months, Molluscum contagiosum typically resolves without scarring but may take as long as 4 years. It can spread from person to person and from one body part to other. Children between the ages of 1 to 10 are most commonly affected. They can be extensive and lead to complications especially in immunosuppressed individuals (eg. HIV infection) and in personnel with atopic dermatitis. It can be effectively treated at CutopiaTM by treatment modalities such as needling, cryotherapy, laser therapy and topical drug therapy.
